WHAT IS GUIDED IMAGERY?

In Hypnotherapy, specific suggestions are used to achieve results and for many people imagery is generally the most powerful and effective way to provide such suggestions. Rather than just simply stating “You are relaxed” for example, your hypnotherapist may ask you to imagine a time or place where you felt deeply relaxed. As hypnosis can be more direct in it’s suggestions, Guided Imagery allows the client to connect to the result they wish thru use of sense of touch, smell, taste, sounds, and memories of pleasant experiences.

Children live in a world of imagination and their skills are very finely honed. Keep in mind imagination and visualization are skills that if not used on a regular basis can become rusty. Most adults, unless they are in a very creative field, have found that their skills of imagination and visualization have become like an untoned muscle from lack of use. Not to worry, these skills are able to revive themselves very quickly.

When I ask a client to imagine or visualize a place, feeling, or sense their perception tends to expand out in ways that I could never have suggested to them simply because I did not experience their experiences. I am an Advanced Therapeutic Imagery Facilitator and being able to combine this method with hypnosis and NLP provides a very complete and effective experience for my clients.
