CAN’T SLEEP? In a 2002 poll conducted by the National Sleep Foundation, only 30% of adults log a full 8 hours of sleep each night. The average married mom gets 6.7 hours. Chronic sleep deprivation leads to impaired memory, reduced coordination, and weakens the body’s immune system, indicates Carl Hunt director of National Center on Sleep Disorders Research. He goes on to mention that not only does lack of sleep lower our resistance to whatever contagious illnesses are going around, but they feel that it also increases your chances of an auto accident due to slower response time and impaired reflexes and concentration. Perhaps you have had a tense and difficult day. The problems are not resolved and tomorrow promises to be a continuation of the same. You really need a night of refreshing, rejuvenating sleep. But you know you are worried, upset, depressed, anxious or troubled. You are pretty well resolved to another sleepless night. Old time remedies, such as warm milk, counting sheep, reading, exercise, etc. are at best temporary solutions. There are medications for insomnia, but quite a few people are hesitant to add another medication to their list. The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas indicated that hypnotherapy was a beneficial treatment for insomnia. There is quite a bit of data from several medical institutions indicating the use of hypnotherapy for insomnia. The UCLA Pain Center routinely uses hypnotherapy to assist their patients improve their sleep patterns in order to allow their bodies to rejuvenate and heal thru the night. Hypnotherapy is an efficient, rapid, drug free way to improve your sleep habits. Stress management techniques are learned, elimination of fears, improvement of attitude and ability to solve nagging problems will result in a more restful sleep.
