WHAT COLOR IS THAT MIGRAINE?

Next time you experience a migraine headache, try asking yourself “what color is it”? In an article on Web MD Health
by Dr. Gary Vogin, he indicates that researchers have subjected hypnosis to the scrutiny of clinical trials and it has passed with flying colors! Hypnotherapy is a drug free method to soothe acute and chronic pain from surgery, cancer, medical procedures, old injuries, and most certainly headaches. The report published is The Lancet for April 29, 2000 offers compelling evidence for the powers of hypnosis in regards to pain reduction and management. They went on to say that hypnosis not only reduced pain, but also anxiety and blood pressure complications in patients undergoing invasive medical procedures. Dr. Donald Lynch of Eastern Virginia School of Medicine who specializes in oncology indicates “hypnotherapy is simply a refined form of applied imagination” and has used hypnosis in his patients to alleviate pain, anxiety, and depression associated with cancer.

Hypnosis is not in opposition or in conflict with your prescribed medical protocol. In fact, any reputable hypnotherapist
is bound by California law to work under a physician’s referral for any issue that may have a medical origin. A lot of the most prestigious medical institutions are now recommending the use of hypnotherapy. The UCLA Pain Control Unit under the direction of Dr. David Bresler has written several books discussing how the mind can substantially reduce chronic pain. Dr. Martin Rossman’s books discuss hypnosis and guided imagery as a valuable tool to combat pain. Dr. John Sarno encourages patients to use this method in combating chronic pain, specifically back pain.

There are many different techniques that are used and taught to clients to combat pain. Stress management is also a necessary tool that clients find helpful in bringing all of their mental resources into focus. Breaking down the many components of the pain is a very helpful path. Another popular method to reduce pain is thru “dialing down” the level of pain. Glove anesthesia is another very effective technique.

Perhaps it is now time to rid yourself of those debilitating migraine headaches? Because hypnotherapy is an effective, rapid, and drug free method, I would ask the question “WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?”

  • Reduce symptoms of pain
  • Reduce stress
  • Increase your immune system
  • Improve sleep patterns
  • Gain control of your life back
  • Improve positive thinking and become pro active in your recovery
