STOP SMOKING NOW! Why is it so hard to quit smoking? Well perhaps this will help you understand why habits are so hard to change. Our behavior, habits, and patterns reside in our sub-conscious mind. Our logic, reasoning, and will power reside in our conscious mind. Herein lies the problem. Logically, you know you need to stop this destructive habit. You know all the health reasons why you should stop. You have always prided yourself with a very high motivation and will power. But, you just can not stop smoking. STOP BEATING YOURSELF UP!! People will try to change behavior or habits and when they can’t they blame themselves and get frustrated which usually escalates the bad behavior and habit. Allow me to explain this dilemma so you can stop blaming yourself for your lack of will power, etc. The conscious mind makes up approximately 10% of the power of your mind. The sub-conscious mind makes up a huge 90% of the power of your mind!!! So you can see that applying only 10% as opposed to a stubborn 90% is usually a losing battle. This is where the use of hypnotherapy comes into play and why is has a very high success rate for smoking cessation of approximately 75%. Keep in mind that success rate also depends on your desire to change. Make sure that you are the one desiring this change, not your spouse or boss or kids, etc. Thru hypnotherapy we are dealing directly with the sub-conscious mind to make the changes in habits and behavior that you desire. People began and remain smokers for a multitude of reasons. Some people smoke because of stress, boredom, social, loneliness, peer pressure from childhood, fear or rejection from smoking friends, ritual enjoyment, and some people actually get secondary gains from smoking by being able to take smoking breaks, etc. Unless you are able to address and unveil what your “smoking triggers” are, chances are that it will continue to be very difficult to finally quit for good. Most people recognize that smoking is damaging to their health. But, did you know that it is the number 1 reason for impotence in men!!! It slowly decreases our lung capacity, we lose our stamina and energy, it also starts to eat away at our self esteem and confidence because we are unable to keep those promises to ourselves. Most people do not have a physical addiction to nicotine unless they are smoking over 1 ½ packs a day. That flu like symptom or the shakes that a lot of people experience when they attempt to stop smoking is due to sugar withdrawal. Since sugar is one of the most addictive substances on the planet, of course, it would be included in the list of ingredients that will help to addict you to the cigarettes. There is absolutely nothing in a cigarette that reduces stress. If that were the case the cigarette companies would be manufacturing a non prescriptive pill that would outsell any type of cigarette. What is relaxing is putting yourself in a place just for you; taking that deep breath; mentally focusing on something else; and giving yourself a “reward”. There are hypnosis techniques that will work faster than lighting up a cigarette because nothing works faster than your own thought process. I prefer a program that is a combination of gradual reduction in number of cigarettes each day each week with reduction and de-sensitization of “smoking triggers” and some mild aversion techniques to cement in the change of behavior and, of course, we are going to be dealing directly with your sub-conscious mind which is where this habit resides. How much time, money, and energy goes into this destructive habit in your life? Now is the time to make a permanent change in your life!
