SUCCESSFUL NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS AND
YEAR ROUND GOAL SUCCESS

Do you remember the New Year’s resolutions that you set for this year? If so, have you made the changes necessary to accomplish and succeed? Some of the most common resolutions that people make are losing weight, stop smoking, land a better job, find “the one”, and increase personal confidence. Unfortunately all of these issues involve our habits and behaviors and patterns of life. This is where people get frustrated in trying to amend or change their habits and behavior to achieve their goals. Our willpower, logic, and reasoning reside in our conscious mind. The conscious mind’s estimated power is around 10%. Our habits, behavior, patterns and beliefs reside in our unconscious mind which makes up around 90% of the power of our mind. Herein lies the problem. The odds tend to be too great for someone to change their habits and behavior without a method which will bring that 90% back in line with our conscious wishes.

Hypnotherapy works directly on the subconscious 90% to put the odds back in your favor for success with goals. With Hypnotherapy we will work thru any resistance to change and assist you in forming the following steps to success:

1. SET A SPECIFIC DEADLINE DATE. This is the difference between just wishing or dreaming about a change. This defines that this is a true goal and having a deadline date allows you to track progress.

2. SET A REALISTIC GOAL. Make sure your goal is attainable. If you want to weigh what you did in high school and it’s been 20-30 years since you were that weight then you may want to set smaller goals. You can always set a new goal once you have achieved one. Keeping it realistic allows you to experience success rather than failure and you will stick to it rather than becoming frustrated with a big goal.

3. BE SPECIFIC IN YOUR GOAL. Don’t just say you want to lose weight or I want to make more money or I want a successful relationship. You need to be very specific about how many pounds you want to lose, how much money and when, and what type of person you want and how you might locate.

4. LIST THE BENEFITS. Write down all of the benefits you will have by achieving this goal. What will achieving this goal mean to you? Make this a nice long list and review it often.

5. YOU MUST HAVE A GAME PLAN. As in sports or business, it is essential to have a game plan. You can not move toward a goal unless you have determined the steps and organized your strategy. Do you need more education? Do you need to build your confidence and self esteem? Are fears holding you back? What times can you set aside to exercise?

Perhaps you need to broaden your goals by bringing some balance to your life? It is usually easier to obtain goals if the other areas of your life are fulfilled. Try to pick a goal in each area of your life. True happiness and success is achieved when there is a balance between relationships, career, physical self, spiritual self, and community. Let’s talk about these specifically:

1. RELATIONSHIPS. Having and being in a loving relationship is a nurturing experience. Relationships can mean you and spouse, relatives, siblings, and even co-workers. Are unresolved conflicts affecting your current relationships? Why not make this the year to get over an old flame and open your heart to new possibilities? Are relationships ending because you have difficulty communicating?

2. CAREER. If your career meaningful to yourself and others? Are you doing what you love? Is negative self image holding you back? Do you have a fear of public speaking? Do you procrastinate or lack motivation? Do you lack confidence?

3. PHYSICAL SELF. Some people think they are being selfish or feel guilty for giving themselves time for self care. Time to go to the gym; time to take care of yourself; time to improve and educate yourself. You will find that you will have more to give to others when you honor yourself with self care. Is it time to lose weight or stop smoking. Your health is one of the best gifts you can give yourself, your children and honor your parents. If you are battling a life threatening disease or chronic pain, give yourself permission to understand and become pro active in your treatment.

4. SPIRITUAL SELF. Whether by becoming involved in an established church or finding your own way to tie to a higher power, faith is an important element. You may find it difficult to find success and meaning to your life unless you have found your reason and what your contribution is supposed to be.

5. COMMUNITY. Setting a goal that is good for others will almost ensure success. Becoming involved in your community gives you a sense of empowerment and helps to build your self esteem and confidence. That feeling that you can make a change tends to end those feelings of being out of control of your destiny.
