MIND OVER PLATTER 45% of women and 25% of men are trying to lose weight at any one time. Approximately $33 billion is spent on weight loss products and services. Next to smoking cessation the number one reason people seek hypnotherapy is to lose weight. There are thousands of diets and diet books out on the market, all promising to help people lose weight. Why do most of them fail? Because they fail to address the real issues of weight control. The answers can be found in examining beliefs, habits and attitudes toward food. All you need to do is watch TV advertisements and magazine ads that imply that if you eat a particular food you will feel loved, happy, satisfied, etc. This then leads to people using food to fill voids in their lives. The sad part of this is that it becomes a vicious circle of feeling bad and then eating to feel better and then not feeling confident in abilities to make better choices. Then we enter into a love/hate relationship with food. Food is not the enemy. Have you ever watched thin people eat? They have learned to eat slow and savour their food. Food is fuel for our bodies and should be valued and enjoyed. There are many reasons people use food inappropriately. Boredom, loneliness, stress, fatigue, frustration, or even to avoid sex. Unfortunately, diets don’t work because they address the symptom (weight) not the problem. By reducing or eliminating the underlying cause, clients find that they are better equipped to make better choices in regards to food. Because our memories, emotions, patterns of behavior, and beliefs are buried in our subconscious many people get frustrated in their weight management efforts because will power, logic, and reasoning are not enough. Our conscious mind (where will power, logic, and reasoning reside) makes up approximately 10% of the power of our mind. Our subconscious mind (where emotions and patterns of behavior reside)makes up approximately 90% of the power of our mind. No matter how hard you try to break a habit at a conscious level, your subconscious is much more powerful and will win over you eventually causing you to go back to what is considered “normal” for you. Why not put the odds in your favor and learn to use 100% of your mind to achieve your goals? Keep in mind that hypnotherapy is not a magic bullet. I will be your partner and do my 100%, but you must do your 100% in order to reach your goal. Remember this is also about putting you back in control of your choices in food, how you want your body to look, making yourself and exercise a priority and taking time to take care of YOU. No long term weight management program is successful without exercise and proper diet. Hypnosis will have you WANTING to eat the right kinds of food. WANTING to drink more water. WANTING to exercise. I will partner with you to find alternatives to feelings of boredom, loneliness, stress, and frustration by building up your self esteem, self image, motivation, confidence and sexual performance.
