WHAT IS HYPNOSIS II? What is Hypnosis? Does it work? Can it help me? Can it harm me? These are all questions that I hear frequently. First let’s talk about what is hypnosis? Unfortunately, most people’s exposure to hypnosis is thru either watching a stage show or perhaps a funky movie where someone waves a watch and people start walking around like zombies. Many people’s perception is based on fiction, doubt, superstition and and is not based in the facts of how hypnosis is used in modern times. Hypnosis began in the l950’s and was recognized by the American
Medial Association. Hypnosis is a great drug free method to bring about change in your habits,
behaviors, patterns and change your negative or limiting beliefs. We
see the evidence of the strength of our subconscious whenever we are
unsuccessful in changing a habit or behavior. Because habits and behaviors
are contained in our subconscious hypnosis becomes one of the most successful
avenues for change. Hypnosis does not deal with conscious mind but rather
bypasses conscious mind and goes directly to subconscious. Can it harm me? Absolutely not! However, make sure the hypnotherapist you choose has the proper credentials. Remember, hypnotherapy is an unlicensed field so be as diligent in picking a hypnotherapist as you would your physician or dentist. Because hypnosis is a drug free method you never have a worry about complications from side effects of prescriptions. There is also never an issue of dependency. My goal with my clients is to teach them the techniques and skills that they can use and develop the rest of their lives to continue to expand and reach their goals.
